Guests will be picked up from the airport and our tour will begin with a drive to Barka, a vibrant coastal town that serves as a crossroads between the regional centers of Sohar and Rustaq. Barka is known for its long-standing tradition of bullfighting and its famous Omani Halwa. Just a 40-minute drive from Muscat, it’s a popular day trip destination for locals. Next, we’ll visit Al Hazm Castle, one of Oman’s most impressive castles, built in 1708 during the latter part of the Al Yarubi tribe’s reign when Al Rustaq was the capital. Located about 160 km from Muscat in Al Rustaq, this fortress was designed by Imam Sultan bin Saif al Yarubi and served both as a fortified structure and a palace for the Imam. Al Hazm Castle is also recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Afterward, we’ll proceed to Rustaq Fort, originally constructed in the 12th century and reconstructed in the 16th century when Al Rustaq was the capital of Oman. This large fort features three levels and four watchtowers and is open to the public. Our next stop will be the Al Kasfah Hot Springs, a natural hot spring with water temperatures reaching around 45 degrees Celsius. Unlike other springs in the Sultanate, the Kasfah hot springs contain traces of sulfur, known for its therapeutic properties, particularly for joint and arterial issues. The warm water, combined with sulfur, is believed to aid in producing endorphins, promoting relaxation and better sleep, stimulating the immune system, and addressing various skin concerns. Finally, we’ll drive back to Muscat and drop off guests.
